As part of a youth initiatives geared towards raising a new generation of digital makers, CcHUB  Nigeria has opened applications for it’s annual 2015 Summer of Code. The CcHUB Summer of Code is a 4-week summer programme; and one of the Hub’s initiatives to raise a new generation of digital makers. Through the Summer of Code, kids will learn new skills and tools to express their creativity.

The theme of the 2015 programme is ‘Because Making is Fun’; students who attend the summer programme will learn the skills to become young makers. The maker-culture is a global movement which promotes the concept of learning through action, hence ‘making’. This transforms learning into a more interactive, more fun and more personalised experience. It also provides a way for each maker to express their uniqueness and creativity.

The summer programme has two classes available, the Junior class – open to 8-14 year olds, and the senior class which is open to 15-19 year olds. Parents have the opportunity to enroll their kids into any of 3 available tracks, including:

The Rockstars: this track has been crafted specifically for kids to explore and develop their musical talents and abilities. With unique lessons and projects to work on you’re certain to bring out the inner rockstar in them.

The AniMakers: this follows the traditional Summer of Code track which focuses on teaching kids how to build computer games and animations.

The HardWebbers: this is the most advanced track for teenagers aged 15-18 years. This track introduces students to web and hardware programming.
