  Google Cloud Developer Challenge

Few days ago i was called upon to be one of the judges for the 2013 Google Cloud Developer Challenge in Sub Saharan Africa. For me this is a humble call to duty and something i accepted because of the passion i have for Technology Development in Africa. This is the same passion that drives what i write on this blog, how we support Startup Development in Nigeria and also our conference-EduNet Africa.

Though i have supported such projects in the past like the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria’s(ISPON) Roundtable For Capacity Development, being a member pre-selection committee for Nigeria at the UN World Summit Awards, also as a Panelist for Youth Enterprise With Innovation in Nigeria -YouWIN(-a Federal government initiative, created by the ministry of finance and supported by ministries of Communications Technology, Youth Development, Worldbank and DFID.).I have also been specially invited to top tech conferences like the Oracle Open World in San Francisco, participated at the Oracle Cloud World in Dubai,Nigeria Software Conference,Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation Forum and then GITEX in Dubai  where my contributions count.

The truth is none of these gives me the same drive, experience and responsibility as being a Judge for the Google Cloud Developer Challenge where am looking at apps developed by Young Africans on Google Cloud Platform, another closer to this experience was getting a recognition from the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria for my contribution to Software Development in Nigeria.

One of the criteria among others i will be looking at will be how relevant these Apps are in the region which for me is a top priority,we really need to solve Africa’s challenging problems using applications and the opportunity offered by Cloud services like the robust Google Cloud Platform.

OMG!It is already a busy week for me doing this and then it will also take some of the time i usually have with my sweet wife Samantha,I hope she understands, but i know the experience will be quite rewarding.
